Junior Membership
Junior Membership at Close House is a wonderful way to introduce Golf to children. If your child is more advanced then Close House can also help. Close House Golf has a thriving junior golf section with regular competitions in the evenings on weekends and during school holidays, we also have a junior team in the Northumberland junior golf league.
The Golf facilities at Close House are open to junior golfers of all ages and abilities from beginners to more advanced. Working with the team of professionals members can take a trip to the golf academy and driving range with designated tuition bays, custom fit suite, practice bays, a specialist short game area and café where parents can relax in the comfortable surroundings. Close House Golf Academy and Driving Range is the perfect place to perfect your game before playing the beautifully presented Colt or Filly courses.
Our team of qualified golf professionals will work with juniors towards their Junior Golf Passport. The passport is a national learning programme for young people in Scotland, Wales and England. It includes a series of achievable targets and summarises the rules and etiquette of golf. The emphasis is on having fun while learning. It is a comprehensive, progressive, structured programme designed to help young people learn about playing the game of golf. The programme encourages and motivates beginners through the achievement of attainment targets combined with rewards and the most important element – FUN!
The scheme sets a series of achievable targets linked to fun games and activities. It has been designed so that:
- It can be used within any Golf Roots project
- Its flexibility allows PGA Professionals and volunteers to use creative and innovative teaching methods
- The children have a great time as they are learning
- It allows the child to progress at their own pace
- The passport provides each child with a record of achievement as they develop their skills and knowledge that is nationally recognised.
